The tooltip suggests that this is how it's supposed to work unless the claimant is part of your dynasty, but player opinion on these forums seems different. I had become King of Ireland by that point, so vassal dukes shouldn't have been a problem, but the dukes would go independent every time. I tried this as an Irish duke last night and had no problem annexing most of Ireland using the method, but it never worked when trying to press claims in The Isles or Scotland. It works fine for me if I'm using it to grab up land within my de jure kingdom borders, but as soon as I move outside of that boundary my claimants start becoming independents as soon as the war is won. I seen several posters here saying the 'invite claimant to court/press claim' approach is their primary method of expansion, but I don't understand it.
